Great Riding out of Tucson

My wife and I needed to get out of Alaska, so we spent a week riding from Tucson to Tombstone, Willcox, Bisbee, Sierra Vista, Chiricahua National Park, & back to Tucson (not in that order). We caught some sleet and cold weather the first day from Tucson to Tombstone but the rest of the week was stunning.

Excellent riding conditions, friendly locals and some hills. In all we rode 500 miles in 6 days. Not too bad for our first spring ride. We may be able to ride outside this week at home. Most of the snow has melted. What a great state.

Thanks Arizona!

Awww, that's great! I often invite my frozen friends down for spring, they seldom show.

And just wait a few more months - we'll all be talking about how nice Alaska is! Fireweed bike ride is just around the corner....

This is our 30th year in Arizona . . . yup, we're staying!
Did you stop for some of that great apple pie in Wilcox? Did you make it to Kartchner Caverns near Beson? Do the copper mine tour in Bisbee and Boothill Cemetery in Tombstone?
Cool/cold weather is a possibility in our winter (?) months, especially in the morning.
Glad you had a good time!

We took in the Boothill cemetary along with some good food in the local restaurants at Tombstone. Tried to stay out of the tourist district except for some ice cream and beer after our rides.

We stopped and checked out the copper mine, but after living in Montana, my wife had had enough of copper mines. I thought it was pretty cool.

Missed the apple pie in Willcox. We ate at the T & A truck stop, the mexican place and Starbucks in the morning.

I'll probably come back next spring!

Wait, I see this claim of riding in Arizona, but no mention of flat tires. Are you sure you were in the right state?

You got me there. 1 flat on tubular, of course on the rear. Basically a worn tire from last season. I managed to limp into the motel and make the change there. My wife had none

The road conditions were pretty good except for occasional steel belted tire remnants.

Yeah, the traveled part of the roads are quite good here. I haven't had a flat for over 3000mi.
