Since the OP is in Washington, UT I imagine he is referring to Mesquite, NV.

Anyone from Mesquite?
I'm from Arizona but get up to Mesquite about once every six months. I thought that people only owned quads in Mesquite. Usually, when I stay in Mesquite, it's to ride at either Brianhead or St. George.

I'm in Henderson, NV and ride dirt. We occasionally camp up there, NW of St. George. A "perfect weekend" involves single track, golf and fishing.

I'll put in a good word about Mesquite, Nevada. I live there in the winter, and find it a great place to road bike. Most of the roads have large shoulders, even though there isn't much traffic. A few of the roads have some issues, but doesn't every city? The population is made up of a lot of retired folk, so don't expect to see many other riders. A couple of good rides:
1. take the old highway northeast thru Beaver Dam and up Utah Hill. Great hill climb (and you'll be in three different states)
2. Jump on I-15 on the west end of town and head towards Vegas- up to the top of the mesa (about 10 miles). You can turn around at the truck pull out (there's a tunnel on a paved road under I-15) or keep heading southwest to Glendale, Logandale and Overton (Lake Mead).
3. Take the old highway out to Bunkerville and keep heading west- it takes you out to I-15 for a fast return to town.
Clean air, great vistas and open roads- it's really an awesome place to ride. And did I mention the desert trails?
