(Las Vegas) Ride 2 Recovery Honor Ride, November 9, 2013

I hear a lot about Viva Bike Vegas and Pedal to the Medal. I'm wondering if anyone is doing or has done in the past the Honor Ride. It's an organization that assists disabled vets.

Looks like a beautiful day for a ride.

Still a $65 entry fee until September 15th. What distance is everyone planning doing?

I don't actually own a bike or even ride one. I just like to sign up for stuff and post on the internet!

JK-the 75 seems reasonable. Last year the weather turned nasty for this ride. So I may sign up for the whole enchilada and ride what I can.

I'd probably ride the 75. It looks like if we get a "team" (edit: 5 or more) together the cost is only $50/person.

There's three of us here already.

Coming out of lurk mode...I have not posted in a long time. I am very interested in riding this event in a team. I live in Las Vegas, and while I've got several centuries under my belt, I am getting back into cycling shape after a deployment to Pakistan for a year where I could not ride. My mileage isn't up to 75 miles yet, but could be in a month+.

Saw Nathan, road with Shannon from Sunrise incline onward. Managed to find a Bean Burrito under Nathan and Shannon's guidance when I was needing nourishment @ 35 miles.

I did not want more cookies and cliff bars, I needed solid food.

I road a shorten version almost 58 miles, passed on the Horizon Ridge section. I also started my Garmin 2.5 miles into the ride, and was trailing the the leaders for 11 miles, when I was not close enough to the group & got caught @ a long stop light.

Sunrise was a difficult climb for me, as was the back side of Lakes Las Vegas. Skipped Horizon Ridge and used Warm Springs from Pecos instead.

Shannon is going to continue riding looking for a century today, I was ready to finish riding at the finish.

Was a Great ride, one i will do next year...
