Does a bike like this exist?

I was playing around with an AI image generator. I asked it for a picture of Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter on a tandem bike. It gave me this.

Now, I've never actually ridden a tandem, nor seen one in the flesh. I've only seen pictures. But his doesn't match anything I've seen.
1) it has three wheels, instead of two,
2) It has two separate chains, rather than a single chain that goes around both sets of pedals.

Now, granted that AI generates some pretty weird images, but I think the bike design is interesting.

Does any such thing exist in the real world?

Would it be a practical design?

The closest thing to that image is a tag-along, but I've only seen those attached to the seatpost or rear rack of a bike. The AI image has the fork of the trailing bike connected to the rear axle of the front bike, and all 3 wheels are the same size which isn't what you'd expect to see with a tag-along.
