Power meter with lightning cranks

The weight weenie in me made me spec Lighting cranks for our new Tandem.

I planned on putting our Vector pedals on the new bike, totally forgetting that the crank arms on Lightning cranks are too wide for the Vector pods to connect.

I assume that is still the case, i.e. no redesigned pods to address that issue.

The only answer I'm seeing (other than ditching the Lightning cranks) is Power2max, which works with Lightning cranks.
Anybody using them on a tandem? Any issue with the captain's crank running on the opposite side of normal with the typical two sided set up?

Garmin finally released a pod with a longer strap for the 1st generation Vector pedals about one year ago that should work with Lightning cranks - we have some in our shop because we are a Specialized dealer, so we have many clients with S-Works crank that wouldn't work with the original pods. Now Garmin are selling the 2nd generation Vector pedals, and I don't know if they've already released the new pods with longer connection straps, or if those will take forever to be released, as they did for the 1st generation version.

Pedal-wise, you also have the Powertap P1 pedal option

Thanks guys. Looks like the Vector2 upgrade kit is availble in large for wider cranks. (15-18mm). Given that the original pods almost fit the Lghtning cranks the large should work.

And since I've got to buy new pods anyway might as well upgrade to the better pod design.

We got the new powertap p1 pedals for our new calfee. They work great. Super easy to install - just like any set of pedals. Unlike the vector pedals, they do not have to be cranked down to a specific torque in order for the power readings to be accurate.
