Is there an option for a 26 or 24 tooth small chainring?

We are considering using the DaVinci triple crankset on our newly ordered Landshark tandem. It comes with a 30 tooth small chainring which is typical. However, I was wondering if there is an option for a 26 or 24 tooth in place of the 30 ring. I sent a message to DaVinci but haven't received a response yet.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks!

My 2007 Trek 6000 MTB has a 22 chainring (Shimano Deore). It'll depend on the BCD of the innermost ring, AFAIK.

Most road triple cranksets (Davinci included) use a 5-bolt 74mm bcd inner chainring. They're generally available in 24 to 36 teeth (even increments) from lots of vendors.

You might also look at Middleburn cranks. They are modular and can go from triples to doubles vey easily. You are building a high end tandem and may at some point want to go to electronic shifting and triples are not really compatible. In fact triples are on the way out period except on lower end group sets. That will make many un happy but it is reality. We built our Calfee adventure tandem with these cranks and are very happy with them. We do have it set up with a triple for loaded touring but also have the parts to make it a double for trips where we want a higher top end For about $500 we have other derailleurs and chain rings and in a half an hour I can switch systems. I do have DI2 so no need for other shifters. We ride the double configuration for everything but loaded touring. MTB tandems is the US distributor for the cranks and Alex is super helpful.

26 tooth

Specialties TA Zelito. Peter White usually stocks 24 & 26 tooth inner rings

Thanks everyone. However, just learned that my XT FD and XT RD will only allow enough clearance for a 28 tooth front ring at the smallest. Otherwise, contact and noise occurs. So, I'm stuck with the 28 ... and hoping a 36 in the back will suffice for 98% of what we ride.

We are going with Di3 using XT FD and RD's using DaVinci 52/40/28 front and 11-36 rear per Mel's recommendation. There are SO MANY discussions and thoughts on 2x or 3x these days. Tough decision. But, I can always swap out to something else in the future if needed.

I am interested in how the front derailleur works with a 52 as the cage is quite different then a road cage . We have "DI3" on our adventure tandem when in gravel mode but only have a 44 large chainring and it shifts flawlessly. Santana does use your combo but they have a shim to tilt the front derailleur up in the back to clear the cage chainrings. Let us know how it works. It nice that DI doesn't care what kind of shifters it uses so you can mix and match to suit your needs, flat or drop bars.

We use a 24Dura Ace combo and have been for 2 decades. No issues whatsoever.
