We've only had one 30 mile ride thus far, so no first impressions quite yet. But, for some eye candy, here is our new Landshark Tandem!

One thing is for certain, this thing is VERY comfortable!! All carbon ... frame, fork, and wheelset. Wow!

Looks gorgeous and you've put a nice build kit on it as well. Just curious as to what the final weight is. White tape looks great for the first few rides but then starts to look ordinary. I much prefer black as after 6 months of riding it's still black :-)

Very nice What was done to allow the front XTR derailleur handle the 53 if that is what is on it. Maybe canted the derailleur forward? A beautiful bike!!!!

Geoffs, ... I still need to weight it. I picked up a digital scale to do just that. I believe, as it is in the photos with seatpack, pedals, my super heavy saddle, etc. it is probably around 34 to 35 lbs.

I used black tape from late 80's till around 2010 and switched to white and love it. I actually found a couple brands that can be cleaned up real well so I only change it 1 to 2 times per 4 to 6k mile season believe it or not. The tape that is on the bike now is Profile brand and doubtful it lasts very long ... as that is what Mel at Tandem's East uses.

akexpress, it is a 52 large chainring. It was built by Mel at Tandem's East and his mech guy. They are very good and know all the tricks/tips of the trade for tandems. So, can't say for certain.

It's got to be less than that, our Cannondale is a L/S AL frame, Gates drive, and CF seat posts and bars and it weighs 37. Fork is AL too.

If so, I have had two, threw one away after a few thousand miles, still riding the other but will have to trash it too once the leather stretches, making it unusable.

Selle's customer service was no help with saddle stretch, company respondent penned a reply to my request for assistance that was less than cordial.

I will never buy another.

Agree, a beautiful bike with all the latest bells and whistles. What can you tell us about the paint job, clear coat over color coat? Powder?

As to weight, tough to get below 30# with triple aluminum cranks, disc brakes and tandem rated wheels, so would expect 32+.

I'm not privy of the details on how it was painted. However, I can say it is a true Candy Apple Red done in multiple layers of color over flake and then several layers of clear coat from my understanding! You should check out John Slawta's Landshark Instagram page where he highlites several of his paint jobs. Very unique stuff. Mine is quite subdued compared to most he does.

Hey Rickyb. That is tough to hear as I started using their saddles the very first year they were started offering them for sale to the public. But, I know they have grown and went thru normal growing pains in the process. I've never had any issues with any of the saddles that they didn't address fully and I've sent back maybe 3 out of 8 or 9 saddles since the early 2000's. As far as comfort, there is nothing else like them. Sorry you had such a terrible experience with them.

Thanks everyone! We are having a lot of fun on it after having ridden it 3 evenings so far. It is SO plush and nice to ride ... soaking up all the bumps, etc. We are primarily working on two things ... 1) fit ... as we are awaiting longer captain stem, shorter stoker stem and two setback seatposts to hopefully address fit issues. and 2) paint flaking and pealing off on the inside of the fork where it mounts to the thru-axle. otherwise, this is a truly dream build and bike!!

Oh, and I'll post a photo or two of the bike on the scale as well when I have them.

Well, I'm a a bit surprised on the weight after putting it on the scale. I was originally hoping for closer to 29 or 30 lbs. But, we saved $900 by going with the DaVinci cranks over the FSA Carbon cranks which may have saved us 1/3 to 1/2 lbs. And, my saddle is a little over 1lbs as well. Compared to the Cannondale it replaced, I'm saving about 6lbs total. But, other than the weight, everything else is very nice!

This weight includes pedals, computer mount, bell, and captain bar-end mirror. But, no seat pack, computer, or water bottles.

We've had our custom c/f Zona tandem for 15 years and have 45,000+ miles on it.
At ages 85 and 83 we still get out on it a couple times a week.

I believe the daVinci cranks w/bb should come in at less weight than the FSA SLK Light tandem set, maybe by a 100gm.

FWIW, easy to drop 150-200gm by sourcing a fixed length stoker stem once you have the adjustable dialed in. A 1/3rd of a pound drop for $50 is a bargain. Search this forum for "35 degree stems". I really don't get the need for that type of saddle these days and especially on a carbon tandem, but whatever.

BTW, I've lost yet another Rolf rim (single bike Prima Alpha wheels from April 2017) to the warranty gremlins. I'm really not impressed with this paired spoke BS after 4 wheel failures now (1 broken hub, 3 AL rim issues). To be fair, I also cracked a couple Mavic Ksyrium SL rims previous to the Rolf, so it seems SL stuff just doesn't hold up for me on the single.
