You could always try listing it at $600 and work down from there. Depending on the buyer, the color might be a huge selling point. Or it may steer others away.

I think those are worth every bit of $600 but I’m not sure the market agrees. I think it will depend on who is looking when you are selling. I sold a similar Santana Sovereign several years ago in San Diego for $375, I think. They arguably were nicer bikes with better components and nicer fillet brazing but then again, the market might not care about that. The Arai drum brake might have been worth the $375 alone, does your bike have one?

I think a lot of people in that price range would rather buy new junk than quality vintage. I just wanted to move mine along to a good home and I am not a patient seller.

Tandems are a tough sell in the used market.

I agree with all of the above comments. I personally would expect this bike to probably sell for 200-300 on a Craigslist in a metropolitan area with lots of other listings.

However the OP didn't mention where they plan to list the bike. If on Craigslist, and if you aren't in a hurry I would start by listing it a bit higher than normal.
There are tons of crappy new and older bikes listed at delusional prices on Craigslist where I am located. So no harm in starting this bike at 600 there. Particularly if you are in no rush to sell.

If you are lucky somebody may fall in love with the color, or be a Kuwahara fan, who doesn't haggle much on the price.
However most everybody else will likely try to low-ball down to a bare minimum price so they can either repaint it, or flip it. So better to list it a bit higher to allow the low-ballers to to do their thing without leaving you flat.

I agree the Arai drum brakes are expensive to replace. This bike doesn't appear to have one. But how about those 7 bottle holders? That might be worth a few bucks

In looking at the picture it looks like it has an Aria drag brake installed. It is behind the spoke protector if I'm seeing this right. Here in PA I think you would get $500 for it.

You guys are right! - don't know how I missed the thumbie and shadow of the brake outline in back. I guess I was mesmerized by the paint job and all the bottle holders. And didn't see an obvious cable run to the back. So that boosts the value a bit.

Even if it does, I've read you can run 650B tires on these? So maybe not a deal breaker? Unless somebody wants to run real skinny tires? Else the OP can call it a gravel bike and boost the value even more

I had a white version of this bike with red/orange/yellow decals but it wasn't an ideal size for me. I bought mine used for 300 and sold it for a little less to get rid of it and that was 12 years ago. I'm trying to sell a burley tandem that's newer and haven't gotten any real bites at 200 so I wouldn't have a lot of hope for more then that. Sell the drum brake separate if people think its worth something and the rest for whatever you can get. A lot of people don't have a real appreciation for older tandems; there's a Santana from the start of the 90s that sat on letgo for 4 months till they finally accepted an offer and let it go for 400 and the thing looked clean. Tandems are nice but often overpriced and the replacement parts that aren't readily available are expensive and I suspect that keeps the values on used down unless its something nice.

Yes it has the drum brake. The brake lever is on the handle bar. I understand it saves rims from overheating on long descents.

It does have the brake drm. I should have posted a picture of the non-drive side.

27” wheels and Arai drag brake are useful information about the bike.

Are those items a plus or a negative for re-sale purposes?

Arai brake a plus the 27 inch wheels, probably a negative.

Except that 27 inch tires, although seemingly obsolete, are still available for purchase.
