Many thanks to all that provided me advice on the rebuild of the 1990 Burley Duet I bought over Christmas.
I paid $200 for the bike and put in a tad over $400 in new parts. I converted from thumb shifters to Microshift brifters, new front and rear Shimano Tourney derailleurs, new Shimano Tourney freewheel/cogset, new Tektro brakes, new tires and tire tubes, new bearings and cones in both wheel hubs, new bearings in both bottom brackets, cleaned and repacked the headset, new chains, new bar tape, new paint, new seats and seat posts and I cleaned up all the other parts best I could. I had to change middle ring from 48t to 40t so FD would work. Then I had to get 2 new timing chainrings. The last thing I did was put a very slight offset dish in the rear wheel so it would be centered. I just took it out for a spin and all the front and rear gears change silky smooth and the brakes are super strong. It rides and looks like a brand new bike (which basically it is). I know some will say I could have bought a better name used bike than a Burley and come out ahead. But knowing that ALL moving parts are now brand new has me hoping I did the right thing, time will tell. Plus I also really enjoyed doing the project, and it WAS a project. For the color scheme we went with an old school look and Bianche color.
Again thanks for all the advice and hope to see you around sometime.

Well done. Very nice. That’s some incentive for me to do the same to a Cannondale Los Dos frame which has been hanging on my garage wall for a few years waiting for mr to do something to it!

Very nice. Restorations are always fun and very much worth it if you are happy with your results. Great work!

It's been a strange winter here in Charleston this year. It has been cooler than normal and very rainy. We are very much looking forward to the sunny days in the 70's.
