Took the tandem leap with a Co-Motion

Well folks, we finally did it. With two Cannondale's hanging in the garage, the Co-Mo is kind of a new bastard step child amungst the giants, but what what a silky smooth performer.

Out of the gate, the Primera shows her hand with a confident, precision ride that I didn't know exsisted in the Tandem world especially as equipped with a steel frame. This thing brings a smile just riding it solo around the neighborhood. Subjectively, I can tell the difference immediately between the "rigid" ride of my CAAD 3 R1000 and the more compliant subtle behaviour of the Primera. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing like the oversized AL tubes of the Cannondales, but when I did the research from C'dale to Santana to Co-Motion and after approaching the local dealers in the Missouri/Oklahoma area, and btw, amazed at the number of other tandem offerings out there, the Co-Motion slowly emmerged to the top of the short list. After more research and many demo rides, it was apperant that it was time to spend the few extra bucks and side with the Co-Mo - am I glad. The folks in Oregon have done their homework on this product. No only the fit and finish, but the welds and paint are awesome, and with nearly 500 miles on the newcomer already (I know - that's not many miles yet) it is clear that the newby is a winner.

My stoker - well, like alot of you have mentioned in the past, my riding partner too was not willing to face the traffic hazards "solo" on her bike but when presented with the idea of becoming the stoker on a tandem (before the CO-MO), she was all game. Then, all it took was one quick 2 mile demo ride on the Co-Mo and the Primera was a shoe in.

With hundreds of roads and the Katy trail (rails to trails) stretching across Missouri at our beckoned call, I'm confident the Co-Mo will bring a smile each and everytime we straddle her. Side note: I know my R1000 and F400 are a tad jealous of the newcomer, but the Primera already feels quite at home.

I'll post pics as soon as I get a few. Great forum BTW.

We bought our Co-Mo at about the same time I got my single bike. After riding the Co-Mo it takes me a little while to get used to the squirrley single again. It actually feels like the back tire of the single is jerking from side to side.

I'm considering painting my fork (threadless). Any suggestions out there?

I noticed the same exact feeling last night when riding my single on a 34 mile ride ... I had ridden the tandem the 3 previous rides. Wow, what a strange feeling ... it felt like the rear wheel was getting ready to fall out of the drops.

Very nice Co-Mo mslrep! Congrats on the new ride! I know what you mean about the other bikes ... my Trek 5200 feels a little jealous now. My Trek mtn bike just puts it's nose up to the big ol' Cannondale tandem in disbelief! hehehe :p
