Need some new tires on the tandem. Bike came with Vittoria Corsa 32's. Nice tires, yes, and I've used similar 25's on road bike, but might be after something a little more puncture proof.

Open to ideas and suggestions. Riding is on mostly nicely kept roads, so while I don't necessarily need Gatorskins...something that's a happy medium btw. those and really nice Corsa's or GP5000's would be good.

Also, as to width, should I stick with 30+? Bike is a Cannondale tandem. Am a bit of a luddite and still use 23's and 25's on my road bikes (and not least of which why that width is they won't accommodate anything wider than 25).

Nicely kept roads??? Wow, that would be a treat. Here in San Diego where the roads were last paved when Eisenhower was President, I run Conti GP5000 in 32mm.

I haven’t had a problems with flats even though our fully loaded weight is 400#, but I do run @95psi.

Mrs. Dan and I are also running GP5000 32 mm x 700 on our Ritchey. We run tubeless at 90 PSI. Tread life has been in the 2000 to 2500 mile range.

We were running Schwalbe Marathon and when we switched to the GP5000 Mrs. Dan wanted to know what I had done to make the bike feel so much more stable in corners. Yes, it is noticeable.

On my Cannondale R2, I use Continental Gatorskin tires for everyday riding. Continental GP 5000 for racing. 32mm for both.

700C x 28mm @ ~95+psi Schwalbe Marathon on the Raleigh Coupe used for club rides and, 26" x 2.0" @ ~60psi Schwalbe Marathon Plus on the Trek T900 being used as an urban commuter/errand runner/shopping hauler.

I've been running Marathon plus 700 x 35 on my Co Motion Java for about 2 years now with no issues. Had problems with flats before switching over. We are about 325 lbs without gear, most of our riding is a mix between road and bike paths.

Only on our MTB tandem. We use TPU tubes on our "fast" road wheelset, but Slime tubes on our everyday wheelset. I'd probably use tubeless on all of our bikes, but they tend to dry out quickly during hot Colorado summers, and I don't have a lot of time these days for futzing with them.

I've been running tubeless GP5000 25s for about a year on the Landshark. Rims are Light Bicycle 45/55 tubeless (no rim holes). The 25s measure about 27 on the rim and there isn't a whole lot more space on at the seat and chain stays. I have been happy with them at about 90 psi. We had occasional pinch flat issues with the tubed setup (variety of tires) even running up to 115 psi.

Overall, I would recommend tubeless for a bit more comfort. It is more maintenance (previously mentioned drying out, finicky to set up sometimes), no doubt.

I have been using Continental GP 5000 AS TR 700x35 on my gravel bike. I run them at around 55PSI tubeless. Rolls well. No issues. Pricey in North America though.

Never tried them on our tandem because our tandem uses 26" wheels but if Continental ever make a wide version, I'll give them a try.

When I was riding a lot in Shenzhen, wet surface traction was a constant issue. Very very few tires has decent traction on wet pavement as I found out several times the hard way.

We run 28mm Continental 5000 tubeless. At 350 lbs team weight we can run them at 85lbs, or less, with no issues.

Ride is much smoother than tubed, which would require higher pressure for the same sized tire, and we have many fewer flats.

Just as an anecdote, we were able to finish the final stage of the Ride Across Portugal, with the pack, with 2 punctures that self sealed. Running tubes we’d have to have stopped twice to fix flights and been dropped.

GP5000 32 mm x 700 for many years, tubed, at 95 psi. Our team weight is 295. On my single, I run GP5000 23mm, also tubed. Some of the tubes are TPU, some latex, some butyl. The weird thing is that I can't remember the last time either bike flatted and those are fast tires for sure. Used to be that fewer flats meant slower and lousy bike feel.

I'll throw in a vote for Panaracer gravelking slicks. Light, supple and tough. Reasonably priced. Better in the wet, imo than conti rubber. We use 700x32 with TPU tubes running 80 psi usually.
