Frozen Eccentric
 

Any suggestions for freeing a frozen Bushnell eccentric on a Calfee Tetra? I have tried tapping with a rubber mallet. Now soaking with WD40 for a bit and will try again in a hour. I installed it about 3 years ago with plenty of grease. Lightning cranks. I am trying to turn with a pin setter ( usually turns easily ), there maybe some tool that can grab the bottom bracket splines with the cranked on that would give me more torque. Does anyone know of a tool made to fit the two 6 mm hex holes on either side of the 4 mm hex adjusting bolt of the Bushnell? Thanks for any advice.

I was dumb, and did not realize that after the adjusting nut is loose that you have to keep turning past resistance to free the wedge on the other side. Sorry for the trouble.

Good that you were able to free. Perhaps once a year or every other year, I remove eccentrics (we have two), disassemble (remove spring), clean and grease bolts, wedges etc, and surfaces between bike (steel frame) and the Al eccentrics. We have not had a problem, but good to keep steel/Al contact surfaces greased.

I use anti-seize paste instead of grease when installing eccentrics (all my tandems are steel). It's messy stuff, but I've never had an issue when disassembling.
