First Tandem Frame Size
 

Hello

My wife and I are considering buying a tandem, she is 5' 4" and I am 5' 10" tall. What frame sizing should we be looking for?

Cannondale's sizing can be found here. http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/02/geo-13.html and I believe I was told on these boards that they frames are the same from 1999 to present.

I am also new to tandeming along with my stoker. I, capatain, am 5' 7" and my stoker is 5' 2.5" ... and we have the M/S Cannondale road tandem. It fits pretty well. I also had a stoker who is 5' 10" tall and it worked fine as well ... albeit with a fairly adjustable stoker stem/handlebar combination from Tandem's East.

Good to hear you're taking the proper steps, sizing etc.. My wife and I took the leap a few months ago and already have over 850 miles on our Co-Motion Primera after doing some pretty exhaustive research on C'Dale, Santana and Burley. Awesome ride and build quality. You should have a dealer that has the proper "sizing" equipment so that you are fitted properly frame, seat, h'bars, stem ,etc....

The most important measurement when it comes to bike sizing is your inseam: the length of the inside of the leg. It is not uncommon for two people of your sizes (5' 4" and 5' 10") to have practically the same inseam. It's the inseam that determines how high the saddle should go above the bracket.

Other measurements to take into consideration is your arm (and torso) length to determine the frame length.

A proper tandem dealer will look at all these details and find the best tandem size for you two. Good luck!
