Arai drum brakes

We're sticking with rim brakes and a drag drum brake. I like the set up. It's worked well for many huge and small rides over the years.

Does anyone know where we can get the quick release attachments? I haven't done a proper search yet. Maybe they are made by Problem Solvers.

Also, is like to know more about various hub compatibility issues. From what I gather there are just a few various axle and spacer thicknesses.

Tandems that don't use hydraulic brakes might be considered old school and vintage by now. However they actually work really well.

Anyway, if you ride a tandem with drum brakes you probably know what I mean.

One thing I really like about them is that when you are loaded on a tour and come to a downhill in spectacular scenery you can just drag that drum brake and tootle down the hill without having to feather the levers and take the sights in.

There are other things I like about them too.

Got to use them before to much speed is built up.

Yeah for sure. Also it's possible to lock up the rear wheel with them if you track into a wet or slick spot.
