Trek t2000 for $1500 or Cannondale Road Tandem for $1200?

Not enough information....

Model years, condition, location, sizing correct, opportunity to test ride, etc....

both new 06 - correct sizing for both

Well the T2000 cost about $3600 new and the Cannondale $2400, so for whatever that is worth.

Sounds like they're being sold below dealer cost... If you could ride both that would certainly help. They should feel a bit different. If it was me, I'd probably go with the Trek.. but that's just me. The C'dale is also a great machine. I just prefer the specs and geometry on the Trek T2000.

at those prices you could probably buy both and sell the one you don't like at a profit.

I have a late-90s C'dale and really like it. The geometry is compact, though, so you are pretty close to each other. Works for us and is fast, but don't wear a fat camelbak!

It was up on e-bay. Also had Trek T1000 along with C-dale MTB. The add was down before I could act. It was from Wyoming. Do you think it was ligit?

Is the Trek a steel frame? If so, I'd go with the Trek. Yes, I am biased towards steel in general. In this case, I'm especially biased because of the greater twisting and other forces a tandem puts on a frame. Steel is much more tolerant of such things. Some metalurgist will now probably tell me I ma full of s***, and Lord knows there are tons of aluminum tandems out there, but assuming that the bikes are fairly close in overall quality, I'll take steel over aluminum every time, especially on a long bike.

Use common sense. Does the seller have lots of good feedback? How much is shipping and how will you keep it from getting damaged? Factor in the cost of getting it assembled (if you can't do it) and fitted to the 2 of you. Are you sure it fits?
