101 degrees, headwind, cut-up tire . . .

Some rides are better than others!
Doing a 20-mile tandemtoot this morning in farm country. Computer temp read 101 at 9:30 A.M., strong and 'warm' headwind on the I-10 Frontage Road return leg and then got a big slice cut in front tire . . .
Let about 10 lbs of air out of cut-up tire and pedaled on . . . got home just fine.
Looked like a 1/2" glass cut and pretty well through the casing. Got 1,323 miles out of that tire instead of the usual 3,500+.
Yup, some rides are better than others!
Pedal on TWOgeter!

Rudy - I remember riding in Tucson. One rider once commented "It's like riding with a blow-dryer stuck in your mouth". You need one of those T shirts that shows a skeleton wearing a sombrero propped up against a Saguaro cactus with the caption "Ya, but it's a dry heat".

Oldacura:
We actually had a couple of airbrushed T-shirts given to us by a Tucson bikeshop that showed 2 skeletons riding a tandem in the desert and the caption: 'It's a dry heat!'
Now that we've been retired we tend to escape the 'warm' summer. Our current 'escape' place is Twin Falls, Idaho (by the Snake River Canyon). Cooler by far, but darn windy! Had winds of 52 mph last week and in the 40 mph range today . . .yeah, but it's a 'dry wind!'

A ride

Rudy, I just got done from a Southern route on a single 8 days ago - still going strong on my Schwabe Marathon Pluses which now have 4500 miles without a flat. Same tires on both my tandems. It was hot all the way. In Florida with the humity we had a couple combined 106 degree days - 44 oz diet cokes every time I could find a store in addition to my 6 water bottles. Now back in the cool Northwest!!!!

Time to c-o-o-l down . . .106 degrees with hi-humidity must a be a real sweatfest!
Great to hear you got 4,500 miles on Schwalbes Marathon+ without punctures!
We are currently tandeming in Snake River Canyon area in Idaho . . . cooler/greener/windier than the 100+ back in Tucson!
Pedal on TWOgether!
