DaVinci Symbiosis Being Taken To Scrapyard

Hi folks. A guy at the local coffee shop was at a scrapyard near here, and a guy about 5 vehicles in front of him had a tandem bike in his truck. The guy's appearance and collective items he had in the truck led this guy to believe most of the stuff might be stolen. He heard the guy offer the tandem to others for $100, so he bought it. He's already called the local police about it to check, and will try to contact the National Bike Registry and Stolen Bike Registry to see if it was reported. He's also going to contact Gold Country Cyclery here in NorCal to see if Rick has heard anything about it, since he sells them.
This guy is interested in riding it with his little boy, but wants to see if it was stolen first, and the original owners can retrieve it. Please contact me with the Serial number and physical desription of the components. These list for $7,500 on the DaVinci website.

DaVinci was open today, so I called and they sell maybe 4 of these per year. They knew about this, as they replaced the bike a bit ago. They gave me the owners name and phone number, which I passed along to the guy with the bike. They are also going to call the victim of the theft and give him the name and phone number of the guy that retrieved the bike. We'll see what plays out. I wonder if the insurance company paid to replace it, and they will want the old bike.

Another case of good tandem souls!.

However maritime tradition dictates that rescue in the high seas is compensated by 50% of the value of the ship and its contents. I wonder how a rescue in the trash dump works.

Insurance results on a similar tandem theft here in Arizona.
Tandem stolen from in front of a restaurant in Benson, AZ. Filed police report, etc. Owners were re-imbursed.
Three months later tandem was found dumped iin the desert with only the computer missing. Apparently someone took it out for a joy ride, then dumped it.
Insurance company said consider the matter settled; keep the tandem!
