Scam Warning if you are trying to Sell your Tandem
My wife and I recently order a da Vinci tandem for next years riding season. As snow looms in Michigan, we decided to start posting our Burley Rumba on some classified sites on the Web. I was approached by “Paul Evans” to purchase our Rumba. He offered me a fair price and included shipping costs. HE was going to send me a cahiers check and I was to cash the check, and the forward funds to a shipping agent of his choice. After checking out the email address on the web I found out it was a scam (https://www.bikeforums.net/images/smi...wn.gifNigerian 419 scam) Beware if you are selling anything on the web, that there are many scams out there. Be very wary of any purchases with cashiers checks. A cashier check will clear in 24 hours, but it takes two or more weeks for it to clear the system and you may still have a bad check. The initial 24 hours is used just to verify that the check is valid but does not confirm authenticity or if funds exist. always be aware of anyone that uses the following email addresses: paulevansz9@hotmail.com or globalshippingcoy@representative.com

The ever popular "Nigerian Scam". I could never understand why somebody sending a cashiers check for significantly more than the amount of purchase wouldn't raise a red flag with anybody.

Whether you live in Troy or in Tucson . . .
Scammers must think we are all gullible. Had the same 'offer' a few years ago . . .
Enjoy the new daV!

I have ignored two offers for a bike I posted on Craigslist which looked like this. The most obvious giveaway was their lack of interest for what they are where actually buying, no questions asked, they took my bike on face value and offered to transfer money into my account. However with proper care and common sense remote on-line sales can be quite safe. Without care and common sense it is just as easy to scam
On the other hand a fellow that was selling a bike refused to talk to me on the grounds that I live in Argentina, when I was not asking this fellow to either ship or collect from Argentina. If I had been a Nigerian 419 scammer I would choose a name like Evans and never reveal my location.
