Any ideas of the frame maker? The frame number is 67117. The hub is a 1936 K Type Sturmey. The frame has been resprayed sometime in the sixties.

It has some very distinctive features for that vintage so it shouldn't be too hard to track down.

In the event that no one is able to offer a definitive suggestion, you may want to send a note to Jan Heine who is very familiar with European tandems from that era. While his main focus is on French tandems, I'd be surprised if he isn't also familiar with non-French tandem produced in Europe in the pre- and post-war years.

There may also be some folks on your side of the pond at the UK Tandem Club who have a better feel for vintage tandems found in England. Neville Frost does a very good job of maintaining a comprehensive Web site for the Tandem Club UK and I believe they also have some forums: https://www.tandem-club.org.uk/

I've posted this in the classic & vintage section too. There have been some developments there. The chain rings appear to be by James, but the frame is still a mystery. It's probably a kit, making it very hard to identify a maker. Oh and by the way " The tandem guys don't know a great deal about vintage machinery." I'm only the messenger. Have a look..

While I don't necessarily disagree with the assessment I would have to say that, having looked at that thread and the writer's contribution to your cause, I'm reminded of the commercial currently airing in the US by the Bank of Scottland where a bunch of what appear to be investment banker-types in business suits sit around a table as a dinner companion is clearly choking on food lodged in his windpipe. They set about to discuss the Heimlich Maneuver, explain how it works, how it's pronounced, and the like but actually do nothing to help the poor soul choking to death. Finally, someone from another table, gets up, walks over, and administers the abcominal thrust that dislodges the food and then returns to his table without saying a word. The tagline: "Less Talk. Make It Happen."

frameteam2003 seems to have wealth of useful information so perhaps that will yield some leads.
