Relative newbie tandem update

Hey all, after several months of riding, a brief update. The Missus and I have been able to put in a decent ride almost every weekend and we've absolutely loved it. Over the past several months I've updated our progress (most recently here and here).

For all you bikers considering a tandem purchase, all I can say is "GO FOR IT!!!". We've had a ball. In recent weeks we've done leisurely rides around the Bay Area. A couple weekends ago we did a nice ride from San Fran to Sausalito, over the GG Bridge, and back. We stopped for a picture break at the base of the bridge and one, then two, then three ... six Japanese businessmen each took pictures with us in turn. It was terrific. We never fail to get some attention.

The Missus continues to surprise me with her strength and she's looking to train up early in the new year for longer rides. In particular she's looking forward to the 70+ mile San Jose to San Fran ride that I do several times a year. We already have in mind some local century rides as well. In the meantime I'm using the rides now mostly as excellent cross-training for my marathon training (marathon is in early Feb).

Overall, we've never feel obligated to do our rides; we just ride when we feel like it, usually on Sundays. Afterwards, without fail, we find that we've done 35 miles along roads and in areas that neither has seen before. Even as a serious cyclist, this is true for me. So there's a real benefit to both of us.

I'll check in later as we ramp up for longer, more involved rides through late winter and early spring.
