The one question we are always asked is, do we get along with each other. Yes, she graduated from UNC and me from Duke but we have been married for 25 years and we have a great relationship but she roots for UNC and me for Duke during the basketball season. But, on the tandem we have been riding it for 3 weeks and are very in sync. We are loving it.

We were fortunate enough to get some action shots on our way out for our ride the other day:

Have to add these ones too from the wedding:

We had the ceremony at a church. Then rode through some of our much loved stomping grounds to the reception. We changed to wedding bike kits, for the ride, and switched back to the wedding gown and tux sometime during the reception (before the dancing, toasts, etc..). The reception site was located 1/2 way up a climb we do all the time.

It's cool to know that the very first thing we did as a married couple, was ride our tandem. The ride was 16 miles with 2100 feet of climbing (90% of which was over the final 3 miles). It's also cool, that every time we climb that hill, it will bring us back to our wedding day.

Congrats to you both - and wishing you many, many happy years and adventures together!

Here's a photo at Maroon Bells a few weeks ago - did Ride the Rockies to celebrate our 30th this summer.

Mel and Barbara's Calfee has the new aluminum couplers and the boom tube appears narrower. Did they mention whether it is as stiff as other Calfee tandems?

Yes, we have the Ti couplers and they have the Aluminum models but the frames use the same diameter tubing all around. Ignoring customer-specific options and the associated accountraments, the only other cosmetic differences that were obvious to me was the grain of the main tubes (visible only under the translucent blue coloring as the orange was opaque), some different methods associated with how cables stops are incorporated and the appearance of 'blisters' around the cable stops, guides and entry/exit points on the frame that are not in evidence on older models like ours. You can see them somewhat on uspspro's white Calfee where the cable openings exit from the headtube along the downtube, at the brake cable stops and where the brake cable passes through the frame joint at the captain's seat tube and top tube.

As for frame stiffness, the only thing that any of us have observed is that our frames do not exhibit any notable deflection in any plane and are just downright plush compared to our previous steel-framed mounts.

Great pics and congratulations on your wedding. We love the bride groom cycling attire - very vogue.

This is a great photo, between the stokers smile and the overall qualtity of the photo just awesome. You ought to sell it to the tandem manufacturer, they will never get a better marketing piece.

I've been riding/racing tandems in randonneuring and ultra distance races off and on for a few years. I did the Furnace Creek 508 twice and a couple 600k's and Fleches on the tandem. Always someone else's though. I thought that was so much fun that I should get my own and do RAAM on it. What a hoot! Since Calfee is one of our team sponsors it seemed natural buy one. What an incredible ride! It's outfitted with Zipp 404 wheels, a combination of shimano DA/Ultegra parts. Gearing is 30/42/56 with a 11-28 cassette.
Waiting for a rider exchange. We're not smiling but we were having fun, honest!!!

Yes I do! Some of the best people you could ever get a chance to meet! If you are friends with them you must be good people too.
