I clicked on the link, hoping that a racked tandem referred to a particularly well-endowed stoker, but no.

Our daVinci Joint Venture, purchased last fall from a dealer in the Chicagoland area. We are planning several short tours this summer, and hope to ride from Vancouver to SF in the fall.

The independent coasting system was the way to go for us!

The ChiChi's and Ritterview's went for a ride over the Santa Cruz Mountains from Los Gatos to Capitola with our club, the LGBRC. We had lunch at Zelda's, on the beach in Capitola. It was 42 degrees when we started, colder at 1630 feet, and freezing on the descent.

Here we are on the beach.

Enjoying lunch at Zelda's with our fellow riders.

Here's one of us while touring in Scotland. That particular distillery wasn't open to public but it was still really nice to be there.
The bike isn't in the picture but it was there all right.

Looks nice. Is there a bike path along the Danube?

Is there a story to go with the British Cycling kits?

oh yes, the bike trail is 2875km long, but we have done just a very small part of it. There is quite some information online. In German it's called Donauradweg.

We just like the design of the British Cycling kits!

Tour De Lights 2009. First place in the bike decorating contest. Perhaps we did go a little overboard.

Tour De Palm Springs

This was our first trip out of Iowa where we packed the coupled Zona into cases and flew. You can't beat Palm Springs in February especially when you live in Iowa. TEAM COW ROCKS!

I apologize for the repost, but this pic is of me and my then 6 yo grandson. I was taken last August just after he finished chemo, and just before spending the month of September at Miami Children's hospital getting a autologous bone marrow transplant.

He just completed his 2nd quarterly remission test as he celebrated his 7th b'day and he is STILL CANCER FREE!

We have been out several times since this picture was taken, but I never think to bring a camera. He's so excited about going back to school in the fall. I'll be picking him up after school several days a week on "Jazz", the name he gave to the tandem.

He can't wait until he's big enough to reach the pedals. RIght now he's taking it easy with the DIY foot rest I fabricated. I investigated a kid stoker kit but it's too $$ and too difficult to put on and take off for when my wife and I go out. This device takes me 2 min to take off or put on.

Sending your Grandson prayers & best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery!

When he gets stronger and bigger, you may want to think about a celebratory ride like the Denver Children's Hospital Courage Classic. There are MANY tandems, usually with kids from 'Team Courage' who are on the road to recovery from a life threatening illness or injury. It's an inspirational & spectacular ride - about 160 miles through the Rockies over 3 days.

We've been doing the Courage since 2003 to honor a young neighbor, now 19, who was treated there. Here's a short video (our neighbor Paul is in it):

Children like your Grandson & the kids of Team Courage are the most remarkable ambassadors of life ...

Wow, that was moving. I'm not sure I really saw the last minute or so. At least not clearly.

I'll have to talk to some of the people at Chris Everett's Children's Hospital and see if they are interested in organizing a similar charity ride. I'd certainly be willing to help.
