Norco Cape Cod

We got this 2001Norco Cape Cod tandem for a great price. Since this pic, we've installed LED lights, fenders, new Schwalbe Marathon tires, a comfy seat and post, and swapped out handlebars for a personal preference. We ride every chance we get!

…looks like the beginning of a new hobby. Wish you always a good ride. We ride way more than I have dreamed in the beginning. Is the height of the saddle of your stoker okay? (She probably prefers it that way…) Plus a good suspension seat post could even double her enjoyment.
Have fun

Well I guess that's where she likes it till she gets used to not reaching the ground from her seat. We tried toe clips that I liberated from a mid 80's Italian racer. They had no business on that bike! She has less knee pain now that she's not fighting foot placement. Sorry, didnt intend to hijack "happy couples on their tandems" without us, a recently married happy couple. It really has been raining so much, theres no opportunity to get our pics taken on our tandem

@bazil4696, nice goin'! Many more miles to ya'.
FWIW, toe clips work just fine on a tandem but like anything involving either tandems or toe clips, they take some getting used to.
I have few pics of both of us riding, but here are two from today.
My sweetie, a.k.a. stoker, and the bike, an '82 Peugeot TH8:

And the inevitable pic of me that she takes over and over.

...ain't no mountain high enough...
We had a great tour yesterday. 140km, overland and city, fantastic weather, light luggage, but – some roadblocks.

puddles (that's easy)

bridges under construction (not so easy...)

After too much time passing after out trial ride on our tandem (which went very well) we FINALLY took it for a real ride last weekend. It's an old box store bike that I did a lot of component upgrades on. You know, "lipstick on a pig" but it performed well. After we got back I bought a better frame off Ebay, something a little lighter and with a lower top bar for the stoker. I'll move some of the better components over to the new frame and replace the others with better components.
It took a long time to get my wife to go, she was too nervous to ride it on the street so we hauled it 100 miles to an old Army Depot that closed, part of it is now open to the public as a wildlife refuge and they built a nice observation area overlooking the Mississippi River. There are miles of empty blacktop roads and lots of wildlife but when we got there the area we wanted to ride in was closed! Not sure why, they may have discovered more unexploded munitions, it was a munitions disposal site after WW1 and there are areas that are off limits. They cleaned it up as well as they could but the Army didn't keep the best records of where they buried stuff a hundred years ago. Disappointing but we were determined to ride so we went back to the nearby town where a bike path along the river started and took our first real ride there. The first mile was pretty shaky but then we got in synch and we had an absolute blast, the wife is hooked now. My cousin and her husband went with us on their MTB's and after watching how much fun we were having they are now looking for a tandem.

This isn't what it looks like but we all had a good laugh with it.

And "Porky" in all it's glory, No beauty but it works and has been a great learning tool.

Norco Cape Cod
I forgot to post an update, but this was from july 2019. We really have enjoyed our tandem and are riding and enjoying the fall
Matching jerseys that fit both men and women are difficult to find. We found these at the Toronto Bike Show. Reasonably priced. The team folded.

Bike upgrade for us. . .2013 Co-Motion Supremo. Featherweight at about 31 lbs. compared to our old Trek T1000 which weighed almost half again as much. Lighter weight plus Di2 shifting makes for a much more enjoyable ride.

Well congrats! I have to admit I'm a bit sad to see it finally sold. I had been eyeing that bike and it was an amazing deal. We live down in AL now and the Nashville drive was just a bit too far for my wife to be willing to go get it on a weekend trip. We talked about it last weekend and I almost had her willing to go get it.

Small world! Yes, we bought it from the sellers in Nashville. The wife works in Bowling Green, so it was only a 2.5 hour drive to pick up the bike. We are very happy with it, especially as it was a bargain compared to buying new.

At any rate, here's the bike we ended up with:

We've already swapped out a few things (saddles, seatposts, etc.), but you'll get the idea.
Anyway, enjoy the ride! That's a great bike!

Many years ago on a day that a portion of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel was closed to allow bike traffic.

Not your typical tandem. Or picture.
This is 55 miles into a 100 mile day on Elk Pass at the boundary between Alberta and British Columbia.
My trooper of a wife and I along with our Curtlo custom mountain tandem, Lolly.
Fully loaded out with gear, food and water weighs in at 90#.
Hats off to Wheatons Cycles in Kalispell!
