A local Toronto politician, Jack Layton, was a regular tandem rider, and here we are posing with his bronze statue outside the ferry docks that are named after him.

My son and I rode Cino in Montana this last weekend. The youngest rider to complete both days of the ride since Cino began several years ago.

Two days and 110 miles.

First and last day ride photos from our recent trek along the wild Atlantic coast of Ireland. We started in the seaside village of Doolin with a climb to view the Cliffs of Moher and finished our excusion nine days and 400 km later in Westport. Wilma Heim, owner of Green Marble Tours, did a wonderful job arranging our self-guided tour. https://www.greenmarblecycletours.com/

We rode/raced The Filthy 50 over the weekend, so much fun!
This was our first tandem gravel ride, our longest tandem ride (by a lot), Frau Toad's first gravel ride .... Our Co Motion Java was delivered at the end of August, and we spent most of September dialing it in, so not a ton of training with it.
It was a big day and a wonderful adventure! We had great autumn weather and a great support from the crowd of rider on the road with us as well as the great race organizer and volunteers. We ended the day 3rd place of four tandem teams, with a time 4:53. We are looking forward to getting this Java out for more and more adventures!

Great job to both of you! If that was an "after" photo, then the dry conditions made for a not so "filthy" event. Perhaps no need to even wipe down the tandem after the ride!

This pic was the 25 mile oasis ... but you're right, this was not a Filthy ride at all. In fact, it was nearly perfect riding conditions, there'd been rain the week prior, the roads had dried with little-to-no dust. I think this was the cleanest gravel ride I've ever done. The chain will get a cleaning plus an easy whip down of the frame.

I have to post a couple more pictures from the photographers at The Filthy 50
Finish line smiles! Greeted by good friend, race organizer, and outstand human ... Trenton (on the right); and getting our finishers pint glasses with beer tokens. Also excited to have Frau Toad's first gravel race captured by documentary film maker, Nick (on the left of the pic - reference "Delta of Spirit")

Then there was this gem!
"Catch the Crapper" (an alterative take on "Chase the Chaise") - photo by Markman Outdoor Photography: https://markmanoutdoorphotography.com/p224410846 Scroll through the gallery for some toilet humor ... also the 2018 Catch the Crapper gallery is truly filthy!
Footnote: It took me a minute to figure out the puddle on a sunny day ... it was melt water from the toilet tank full of ice and beer
and there's a bag with Baby Ruth candy bars in the bowl. They thought of everything!

Finally spring has fully approached here in Germany... So much fun to start the new season with the first rides... wearing a stupid smile all the time...
The only changes after Winter-break: A new Magura MDR-P-disk for the front break (MT5, double piston) and a new main chain. The old (no-name) disk was just warping too much after "engaged breaking". I was so happy I did this because the old break pads were embarrassingly worn too after 11.000 km... shame on me.
Now everything is fixed and ready for hopefully many more happy miles and moments this year. Wait... I hear the Rohloff calling for some milliliters of fresh oil...if that's what it needs for continuing its perfect function... of course, that's only fair...
