Tool bag for Burley Duet Softride

We recently acquired a Burley Duet with the Softride stoker seat. This is our first tandem and we are enjoying the bike. In equipping the bike we have yet to solve one dilemma: where to but the tool bag? The usual arrangement, a "wedge" bag under the stoker seat is not a option, because the stoker seat is on the beam rather than a seat post.

Some sort of small handle bar bag on the stoker bars might work. Or perhaps getting one of those triangular "frame backs" and putting it in the vertex formed behind the captains seat tube a below the boom tube. Or doing some thing custom.

I am curious how other people have dealt with this problem. Any suggestions?

Softride makes a bag called the "Beam Bag" that fits neatly under the beam. I have one and it fits great. Here is the link from their web site. https://www.softride.com/bikes/bike_a...assicbeam.html

My wife and I just got an older Burley Rock 'N Roll with a Softride seat. I was able to use a wedge seat with no problem. The straps on the seat were able to go over the seat rails, then reach around the bottom of the bag so the buckle could be buckled. The velcro at the front of the bag just wrapped around the beam itself. Nothing fancy, but it did work. If you are interested I could post a picture and the name of the bag maker.

We don't have the softride beam on our Duet, but we do have a rear rack installed that interferes with the placement of a seat bag behind the tandem. We solved that by using a cage rocket. All the tools we were carrying fit, and three bottles are the most we've ever carried, so sacrificing one bottle holder for it wasn't a problem.

Thanks for your response. I am interested in knowing which bag you successfully used in this manner. I had thought about the same idea, but assumed that the straps would be two short to actually mount the bag under the beneath the beam.

It is a bag I have had for a while, made by Genuine Innovations. I tried to post pictures but the server was too busy. https://www.genuineinnovations.com/bi...px?prodid=1047
