rear rack for santana

Does anyone know if a standard rear rack will fit on a Santana Arriva? I already have a Jandd Expedition rack and wonder if it will fit on the new bike we are planning on purchasing.

Disk brakes or no disk brakes?
No idea, but disk brakes might be a problem. V-brakes or cantilevers won't interfere from your rack.

EYelets or no eyelets? I think there are, but can't say for sure.

As far as the width is concerned, you will have to widen the rack, but that's not a problem.

I take it from your post that the Santana Arriva and the "new tandem" are one in the same. If your Arriva is fitted with linear pull (aka, V-brakes) there are usually clearance issues on most standard racks with the "Travel Agent Brake Boosters" that are attached to the left brake arm.

Santana recognized this problem right after they began using the V-brakes & boosters and worked with "Old Man Mountain" to produce a V-brake compatible rack for its tandems. They are sold by Santana and its dealers. Rich Shapiro still lists these for $75 on his Web site, which is a few bucks less than some of the other dealers. The first URL will take you to a picture of the rack with a brief description. The second will take you to the page from Gear-to-Go Tandem's catalog page for racks.

The Travel-Agent issue is one factor I didn't think about (I use bar-end shifters). As you already have the rack, one solution might be to attach the strut to the left seatstay via a P-clamp instead of via the braze-on. It's obviously not as elegant, but would be stable enough.

I know the above trick works well with Blackburn racks and with Burley Moose racks and I think it would work with Jandd, but I haven't tried it.
