Our tandem hauler

Probably not for everyone, but we turned my wife's Element into a bike hauler with just a board and a fork mount.

We sure don't miss the wind whistling through the tandem when it's on the Passat's roof.

(92" from fork tip to rear tire)

Tailwinds-

Harry

You are a genius. Why didn't I think of that. The Montana is about to get a fork mount bolted to the floor.
Thanks for the pictures

Very nice! We're thinking about getting a newer car soon (second hand to let someone else take the depreciation hit ), and the Element and Passat are both high on the list. I'm torn with the Element, though - fugly car, but amazingly practical especially for a cycling family as you've just proven again to me. I'd love to get an Element, but my wife has threatened divorce if we end up with one.

Well, you're right - it's definitely not the car to impress your friends with. It is a LOT more fun to drive than it's looks would suggest, though. My wife bought it for trips to the nursery, but it mostly gets used for bikes and dogs.
