Bob Trailer Behind TAB behind Tandem - Nuts?

I am probably really pushing it here but am trying to find a solution to my touring problem. Has anyone had experience towing a Bob trailer behind a Trail-a-Bike (TAB)? We will be riding the C&O & Allegheny Passage from DC to Pittsburgh. Thanks!

Keep the rubber side down!

Haven't tried or heard of it being done with a BOB. But I remember discussion on the tandem list about a couple who successfully used a tandem TAB for their two older kids behind their tandem and had their two youngest in a Burley trailer behind that. But the mounting and stresses are very different with a two-wheel trailer compared to a BOB.
Would you have enough carrying capacity with front and rear panniers on the tandem and a second set of rear panniers on the TAB?

Not exactly... I'd be concerned with the connection between the main bike and the TAB- there's an awful lot of torque going through there. If you could find one, I'd use a Burley Piccolo, which attaches to a dedicated rack on the back of the bike.

A conventional two-wheel trailer wouldn't torque this connection so much. Joe "Metal Cowboy" Kurmaskie used this setup for a Trans-Canada ride a couple years ago:

Don...if you are doing that combination you are a braver man than I... but then again, many folks are.

One small word of caution...On the AP and C&O, some of the 'ride though gates' and the surfaces immediately around some of them can be a bit tight/tricky...so watch the sway and clearance on your second and particularly your third unit. Have fun..be safe...that is a really great ride!!

Have pesonally seen a few tandems hauling a TAB (even one with a tandem TAB) with a 2-wheeled trailer behind that. Never seen it with a BOB trailer. All were ridden on pavement and not on an unpaved trail.
If you want to try it, suggest a few local rides with that setup including full load of kids/gear.
It'll make for a real choo-choo train!
Enjoy the ride TWOgether!

Actually not Nuts, it's Nutz; You'll need Bob Nutz on the axle of the trail a bike to hook the Bob trailer to.
