Early Burley Samba rear TT length needed ASAP?
Does anyone know the rear top tube length of a 1990 or so Burley Samba?
I'm planning to drive 700 miles to look at a tandem frame Friday 2-26-10.
But now a friend says she has a 1990 or so Burley Samba she can sell me cheaply, but it's loaned out and she's not able to locate it at the moment. I know the newer ones have 27.5" TTs.
I'd hate to drive all that way and buy a frame when I could have gotten a whole tandem for less. TT length is critical for us as my stoker needs her bars higher than my saddle

The effective length is about 26.5" (67 cm), as best as I can recall. Could be a bit shorter but certainly not any longer than that.

We did locate the Burley and it measures 27.0 between the BBs. But it wouldn't work for us as it has a proprietary BB setup with pressed in cartridge bearings. We would need much shorter BB spindles to go with our 153mm cranks.
Too bad as the owner says it only has about 1000 miles on it and I saw nothing to contradict that figure. Seems a little spindly looking but would be a great kiddie crank bike.
