LiteSpeed Titanium Triplet on eBay

The seller is asking $25,000 for this bike! They say that the original retail price was $38,000!

That's nuts, it doesn't even have top of the line components on it. If that price is right the frame alone sold for $36,000. Titanium has gone up in price lately but not that high.

Way out of line!! Even if offered at $12,500 I doubt it would get a single bid.

Rode one of the first Serotta titanium tandems built and it's original price was around $13,000.
At that kinda price, you can get a carbon fiber triple built and have $$ left over!

The disconnect is that the seller has 99.9% positive feedback.

I guess he figured he'd take a shot.

That seller sure is an optimistic sort at those silly nunbers... but no harm in him trying to find someone like himself to buy it.....I suspect he'll have some inquiries and a few folks will probably send him some lowballs to bring him back closer to earth.
When it doesn't sell, it will be interesting to see if he re-lists it and at what number.

The seller has several LiteSpeed single bikes on sale at his ebay site: Budgetbicyclecenter.

We own a Cromolly coupled Santana Triplet that we are using less and less. If I can convince my wife to sell it and upgrade to CF coupled tandem. We could sell the Cabrio and the Sovereign and with the proceeds pretty close pay for the CF coupled tandem. I have a very good feeling about how much to ask for the sovereign but for the triplet I have no clue.

There was a Santana triplet on eBay that didn't sell at $6,499 .

I have a feeling that it's tough to find a buyer for these things.

Yes, I remember seeing that triplet. Ours is 2 or 3 years older and does not have the child-stoker-kit but it comes with SS couplers and cases. If we could clear 6 or 7 K for the triplet and 3 or 4 K for the tandem we may end up just needing 2 or 3 K for the upgrade??

For $25,000 you'd think they could throw in free shipping.

I've shopped at Budget Bicycle many times, but I've never seen anything as outrageous as this......at least not price-wise. It's simply unbelievable to think that they're serious about that price.

As expected, the auction did not attract a single bid. I think that a starting price of $5,000 may have attracted some bids but I am not sure. Also, I do not think this is the best time to sell a tandem... maybe in a couple of months.

I'm wondering if this wasn't simply thrown out there as a lure for attention / advertising to help bolster traffic across their other auctions and on-line store?

Ti has some flex and I certainly would not consider a Ti Triplet. Steel, Al, and CF for Triplets only.

On top of that, the guy is charging $300 for shipping. You'd think he'd add free shipping at 25K. It will sit and not sell...sorry to be Debbie Downer.

That listing has to be for the purpose of getting traffic to the Seller's Ebay store. Irony is that the Seller's store is Budget Bicycle Center

A little OT, but a cycling buddy has a Litespeed tandem and likes it very much. I took it for a solo spin and found it handled exactly like a single with just me aboard. Seems like there must be a downside with a stoker aboard. Felt strange after riding my CoMo solo.
