Vintage tandems...
This just arrived today... a 1976 Gitane that is in remarkably nice shape and was a one couple bike.
Looks like the original rear wheel was replaced with a 27 inch Weinmann concave that appears to be virtually unused. Now... if it was only a 55cm frame. http://ravingbikefiend.com/bikepics/gitanetandem1.JPG I know a couple here who need a new tandem and this might fit the bill... my friend's wife is blind so cannot ride solo and their current tandem is a bike shaped object that needs replacing. My friend is a monster of a man who would fit a 58 cm frame quite well. Have set it up without rear bars and had to move the saddle all the way down so I could test drive it as I work through the servicing.... nice to find that the eccentric was not welded into place and was adjustable. |

Amazingly... my crab apple tree also grows bicycles and am hoping this one ripens into a shade of British racing green.
It is sized to perfection and is almost like it was custom made for me. :) http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikepics/convtandem2.JPG |
Some great lookin' retro twicers!
So who built that blue one hanging from your apple tree? Interesting design to say the least! Pedal on TWOgether! Rudy and Kay/zonatandem |
Thanks for resurrecting the thread, zt.
That Pogliaghi I find intriguing, it would be just the thing to take to the L'Eroica. I like the vintage Campy, but note that it has a double rather than triple (and L'Eroica has some steep climbs!) Would it be a huge project to fit it with a vintage Campy triple? |
