SvdSinner Makes The News...
The Tribune of Ames, IA, ran a story on our friend SvdSinner back on July 17th that was picked up by and shortened by the Associated Press and is now making the rounds in other regional newspapers, like the Chicago Tribune.

Very nice story! Thanks for posting the link. Fortunately, the hills in Iowa are short and the roads are closed for RAGBRAI. My one son uses an old single of mine to tow his 7 y/o on a trail-a-bike followed by a trailer with the 2 y/o, but he doesn't feel comfortable on our busy California roads - MUP only.
Longest true tandem I've seen in person was the quint at NWTR; talk about having to plan ahead and starting on a hill must be interesting with any of these long setups!

That's a great article. What kind of wheels do they have an that bike? The picture is real fuzzy but they look like some sort of deep dish aero wheels. Is that an optical illusion??? RAGBRAI is a hoot. I wish I had my tandem when I did it with my son. He was 9yrs old and rode his own road bike. I could have brought the wife. The boy did great on his own, even did the century.

That's an interesting story - thanks for posting. Call me a cynic, but I suspect the local news covered this because they sensed an opportunity to cover a big parental rights fight. I don't think it's about the biking. Did you read the story comments at the local news site?

Cool article... but it ain't me. Don't know Greg's ID on bikeforums but I am in Davenport, not Ames, and my kids are both teenagers...

No problem TandemGeek, looks like they were able to update it.
(JanMM: Well, if we could get a tag-a-long and trailer big enough...)
