Velocity Dyad Rims?

I'm going to build a set of wheels soon, and I've used Deep V's in the past. I've read here about Fusion and deep V rims, but nothing about Dyads. I'm attracted to the wider rim for more tire volume, since we plan to bulld a cross type road tandem, as opposed to a pure road racing setup. Anybody have experience with Dyads?

We're running 40H Dyads with Hadley hubs. We're a 280 lb team and wanted bulletproof durability for self-supported mountain rides. 28C Conti Hardshell & Gatorskins are very easy to mount. Excellent rims & exceptional customer support.

Dyads have been great for us. Just make sure that the rims were not produced in the first half of '09 as Velocity got hold of a bad batch of aluminum about that time.

We went the other way. Used 40H Dyads for a long time but finally switched to 40H Deep V's, mainly because it is much easier to switch with Rolfs or sweet 16s and Deep Vs. 28mm is about the minimum for Dyads and about the max for Deep Vs, but 28mm is all we ever run anyway. Never had any problems with the Dyads.

The front wheel on our triplet has a 48h Dyad rim with a Hadley hub. Bomb proof and tires mount effortlessly, even those with wire beads.

When the ageing Mavic rims on my Santana started shedding their eyelets I decided to rebuild the wheels using Dyads. One of my tests for rim quality has been the amount of trueing that's required after bringing the spokes up to tension. ZOOWIE! No radial trueing at all and almost no side-to-side trueing was required for either wheel.

I built a new set of wheels for my Santana Visa a few months ago. 40h black dyads, with straight gauge spokes. Origional Suzue front hub with new sealed bearings and new Shimano 9 speed hub for rear. We have about 800 miles on them and they are fine. Front needed no trueing and rear only a small tweak recently. So far, I am quite happy with them.

We have used 40h Dyads, with Hadley hubs, for almost 30,000 miles. They have been great rims.

There is one drawback to the Dyad. Velocity recommends nothing smaller than 28mm tires, particularly in the case of tandem use. If that's not a problem for you, I think you will love them.

I should mention that I have a friend who works for Velocity.

Thanks to all for the feedback. I ordered the rims today along with WI MI6 black hubs and Sapim DB spokes. Shouls make for a reliable set of wheels, assumimg I build them well.
