On the road . . .

An updated photo of us on the road in Tucson area April 30.
Nice get-2-gether with GABA club members at a volunteer appreciation picnic at local park.
Yup, we were the only tandem there . . .
Pedal on TWOgether!

Nice pic! Looks very sunny and nice there. We're finally getting the occasional good riding day here in Pittsburgh.

on the road . .

Seriously sloping top tube is for 'older and shorter' folks; easier to mount/dismount . . . we are 78 and 76 and stoker Kay is a 'tall' 4' 10 3/4"! She needs lower standover room and much shorter toptube/reach resulting in a 63 1/2 inch wheelbase (about 6 to 7 inches shorter than production tandems).

As for the weather, it has been in the mid-90s here and 3% (Yes . . THREE %) humidity.
Could use some of that ecxess rain that folks back east are having.

Wheelspeed, I see toy are from ever rainy Pittsburgh. Have you found an LBS here that caters well to tandem riders?

Zonatandem, thanks for posting the picture. I have been reading your tandem posts for years and finally know what you look like Now!

Wow, 4'10!. Great, 76 &78. My Dad is 72 and can barely walk. He tells me that exercise is a waste of time. Thanks for showing me light at the end of the tunnel!

Hi dwmckee! I haven't looked for a good tandem shop yet. We got our bike in pretty good shape, so it hasn't needed anything yet. Although, I hear a new grinding noise from the front BB, so I may be asking some questions to this site about that. (I do everything myself except wheel-building.) I'd like to find a local place that has good experience with tandem wheels.

For deraillleur adjustment, brake adjustment, new chain, new cassette, etc., I wouldn't hesitate to take it to any bike shop for that. Or I'd be happy to look at it for you. PM me sometime. Maybe we can grab a ride together. We signed up for the 50 mile Pedal Pittsburgh this year, so are getting some rides in during the next two weeks.

Be careful what you wish for. It's currently 47 and raining here in Ohio. We haven't been able to get out for almost a week.
