"Dog Miles"

I'm consider for other than flat rides adjusting the wheel size entry on my Garmin to plus my miles up by 50%s. I know I'm working 50% harder and I'd sure like to brag about 100 mile weeks. What do you guys think?;)

When I ride on the dirt (gravel) roads around here I figure I'm putting out 25% more effort compared to the paved roads in town. Don't actually count the miles that way except in my head! :-)

My wife and I both ride road bikes and Mountain bikes. We log our rides by time and effort. Miles don't really matter. As long as you have the ride in your legs, who cares what other people think.

Bet your online personal ad profile has similar exaggerations.

DOn't forget to subtract 50% effort for the downhills ;-)

We do not exaggerate our miles . . . nor our smiles!

100 mile weeks are early season/late season building/tapering weeks and are only brag-able if you managed to do one in the middle of an icy snowy cold winter. :) Now if you're talking 200 or 300 mile weeks .....

If you weren't running the Garmin you could simply add another magnet to the wheel and double your speed. I'm thinking about 5 magnets so I can show 100 mph max speed. :)

ok. let's make a formula, like add 10%, sorta hilly, 20%, really hilly, 40%, terribly steep, plus add for headwind, another 5%, or subtract if temp is just right... I think this will get compicated!

We don't even bother using a computer anymore. We just go out and enjoy the ride and go as far and as fast as we feel like on a given day. Used a computer for years. I have to tell you we enjoy riding now even more without the gadgets. We don't have any interest in bragging to anyone about our miles.

The Garmin eTrex Cx I use on our Co-Mo will sometimes lose the satellite from cover. When the rejoin, there is often a jump in the track. The distance to time from where it thinks it was to regaining it's composure has seen us with peaks in speed close to 300mph.
