It's the 'little things'...
Last month we added another (tandem) bike to our stable. Being a very lightly used bike, it needed almost no tweaking (new cables & housings) other than pedals & saddles.
I took it out for a spin yesterday to get used to the bar-end shifters and different gearing and see if the cleats were adjusted properly.
I think I'd been on the bike for about 5 minutes before my brain reminded me of what my body hadn't: the new saddle.
I big grin broke across my face as I remembered why I bought another Brooks B17.

Same here - just got a B-17 for (captain) and a sprung B-17S (stoker) for the Holdsworth. Can't wait to take it out this weekend!

Wow, everyone is different. I rode my Bob Jackson with tubulars and a Brooks saddle for approx 17 years. I must have put many gallons of neetsfoot oil into the saddle over that time. I could never get comfortable on it. When silk and cotton tubulars became more precious and I rode with the newer tech Contis with less forgiving synthetic fibers, that was the end for me! The harder tires just killed me. I eventually started to ride a Serotta columbus frame with clinchers; still no good with the Brooks! I later switched to a flite saddle, which looks like a torture instrument, and it was 1000% better for me. Go figure!
I now use a variation of the flite (arrowhead) with a slot on my single and a Terry Fly on the tandem.
