A New Must-Have Stoker Accessory

My stoker-wife give me this link to peruse:https://www.ilook360.com/default.asp One more accessory to charge on the tandem. It might be useful if it had the "flight critical" information as an overlay, but do we really need a 170 deg field of view? Somebody buy one for their stoker and do a review.

Under their "possible uses" list, I think they forgot the most likely: parents! Every parent needs eyes in the back of their heads, no?

In all seriousness, it would be cool to somehow interface that with an iPhone or iPod touch (or similar small-screen mobile device) that is mounted on the handlebars so that it could serve as a rear-view mirror. Of course, my $20 Blackburn mirror does the same thing...

So where does this mount? The camera on the stoker's helmet and the monitor on the captain's? Seems to me that the captain would have more need to see what is coming up from behind.

That would be THIS product.

Edit: According to their website, although this is an HDMI cable connect product between camera and display, they have tandem and recumbent length cable extensions available, so I assume it will reach the captain's bars. They have also taken a lesson from Apple, and the Hindsight will have downloadable "apps" for power meters, cadence, speed, etc. And a planned GPS later on.

I'm thinking the hindsight needs to be mounted opposite, so the stoker can see what's ahead...

Where will this tech business end?! I've had the same Rhode Gear helmet mirror for probably 20 years. It's cheap, light, doesn't ever need to be recharged, and since my neck hasn't fused...a rotation or elevation of my head of a few degrees allows a really full field of view. Just curious, does anyone have any idea of what this thing will cost?

Hopefully, it won't for a while yet Steve. Many not-hired-by-lying-politicians economists say that the tech industry is the only thing between us and total economic collapse right now. When Moore's law fails, we're going to be in deep do-do. Here's a Wall Street Journal article.

As for cost, the Hindsight is $299.

and weight and more batteries to worry about charging and more stuff hanging off the bike.

I do have a Garmin but I like to Keep it simple and ride just the bike no gadgets sometimes. Quite liberating.

It's required to ride a fixie nekid! Mine has no computers, bags, racks, not even a water bottle cage on the bike. Everything I need is in my backpack. And of course, it's socially unacceptable to wear any cycling clothes except gloves and maybe shoes, but only if they're "cheaters" and LOOK like civilian sneakers or sandals!
