Found on CraigsList - Tampa Bay
What appears to be a decent shape older Santana. Appears to be a 7 speed setup with a stoker-controlled disc brake installed for a drag. Looks to be a tall bike. The ad doesn't really tell you anything. Not year, model, frame material, (probably cro-mo steel), frame size, wheel size, (could be 27" yet in this era), components, nothing.
I'm always amazed by this. How does someone who knows nothing about bikes, let alone tandems, end up with a expensive bike like this? Anybody missing a bright yellow Santana?

Oh, I agree. I posted it because it appears to be fairly tall, and tandems for the tall or small are relatively hard to find. But it does still amaze me that someone ends up with one that knows NOTHING about bikes.

Sadly many tandems of this age end up being sold by the noncyclyst children of the captain and or stoker. Often the bike appears to have been lovingly cared for for decades.

It would appear this one was cared for, as it was possibly owned by a race team at one time. Isn't that an old USCF sticker on the top tube?

My eyes may be deceiving me, but that looks like eight cogs on the rear, with the chain in the second-largest. It also seems like disc brakes, other than the Phil Wood style, didn't exist when seven-speed freewheels were the most common gearing. I always did like that half-step plus granny set-up; lots of tightly-spaced gears and good front shifting, which is nice since you do a lot of front shifting with that set-up.

Hmmm. I did what I could to enlarge and enhance the cog set image, but I still couldn't tell. You may well be right, but I guess if someone wants it, they just need to call and/or go see it.
