Confessions of an insensitive a$$ - saddle thread

I'll skip most of the backstory other than to say that I've found my Brooks b17s to be the best saddles I've owned. When my bride/stoker finally admitted that both of her thrones were tolerable AT BEST, we got her a b67s. After some tweaking of the position, she too preferred it to anything else... And we were close to getting her a second one.

Butt wait... (here is where we cut to the chase)

I ordered her a Selle An-Anatomica Titanico.
She was out of town when it arrived so I "tested" it on my road bike. Bad captain, bad.

Bride/stoker came home on Sunday and yesterday I transferred the Titanico to the stoker position on the Cannondale. She thought it looked like I had the nose tilted up a bit too much, but at our first stop she asked me to raise it just a bit more.

It' been my habit, every 2-3 miles, to call "coast" and allow her to 'adjust'.
Not any more! Her response now is "not me- I'm fine!"

Knowing how much I enjoyed my "test rides" on her new saddle, she INSISTED that I order one for myself. Darn.

Think I'll keep her for another 25 years....

PS -- Selle An-Atomica is having a sale on selected colors -- you might want to take a look.

It was just the opposite with my wife/Admiral/stoker-navigator. We went several seats for her (Specialized & Terry), but the Terrys were tolerable at best. Then she tried her Brooks and never looked back (once all the minute adjustments were done over the course of 2 months)(Tandem rule #1: keep the stoker happy!).

I've put a B17 on mine, but I knew from riding Brooks on my single bikes that it was what I wanted. My wife isn't so sure, the cushy padded Serfas saddle she now has on the tandem is good but not perfect. I may take a chance and order her a sprung model Brooks. Plus, she has this thing about wanting the tandem to match front and rear. If she decides she hates it, a Brooks is always easy to sell.

Interesting! We are on the "Western Express" section of the ACA route here in Western Colorado and have several cyclists stop over as they go through. Brooks leads the pack in seat choice for these cross country folks better than ten to one!
