My stoker/wife and I are going unless our son leaves for Brazil that weekend. Should be a good time, the ride leaders do a good job.

Just saw this post yesterday and since we live in Ohio we are coming!
We have only been riding 10 months but my wife would like to go to a rally to pick up some tips.

Can anyone who went share how this rally was? We are considering the 2013 rally. It falls on our blocked 2 week vacation for our anniversary and we would be driving there from near Houston. After rally we will do some other vacationing. What other things in the area?

The 2012 ITR was very interesting. On Friday afternoon prior to the ice cream ride a storm blew through with 90 mph winds. There was no power in much of the city including the host hotel. One local bike shop lost part of their roof. On the Saturday ride had we to dodge much debris on the roads.
The organizers checked and made sure all the routes were open and they improvised SAG stops. They were also able to rearrange banquet reservations to another restaurant and the food was great. All in all they did a terrific job and event went well despite very trying conditions.
The routes were through rural northeast Indiana...mostly flat with some rollers. They were well marked with Dan Henrys and the cue sheets were accurate.
As for other things to do, Fort Wayne has a minor league baseball team with a brand new downtown stadium. There is also a great children's zoo. The local library has a world-class geneaology department.
Indy is 100 miles away with many, many things to do.
We will be attending again this year and hope to see you there.
