Sizing the timing chain
Simple question: how should the eccentric be clocked when sizing and installing a new timing chain?
|
I set the eccentric as loose as it will go, wrap the chain (2 chains, joined), and pick the closest possible link, that makes the chain longer, to break. I replace my current chain with one with the same number of links. I use the same chain on both sides, just to keep everything simple. I rotate my eccentric counterclockwise to tighten.
