They seem to be well regarded race bikes. For example, the Orange Tandem is a Duratec. Tandem Road and Track Racing in Australia - Orange Tandem Racing Team There are a few other Duratec tandems racing in Australia.
From memory (fallible) the back end is restricted to 130mm OLD so a wide range of wheels are available, but are less suitable for heavy teams or touring.
Cheers,
Cameron

Authorized dealers in Austrailia spec the rear dropouts at 130mm, 135mm, and 145mm, no response on the possibility of a 142mm TA. The Orange race team R9 is equipped with Ultegra DI2 and the Czec crankset and weighs 12.9kg, so they can be built light, and the team peak power is somewhere in the 3000w neighborhood, so I'm guessing the Duratecs are pretty stiff. There was a thread herein about 2009 about a Duratec build, but the thread died with little information. You'll have to search for the thread as this site doesn't play well with my screen-reader and I haven't figured out how to post links yet.

Duratec is willing to build to the 12x142mm spec, or to any dropout spec you desire. Quoted prices for US delivery are VAT exempt (appears to be about 20% off web prices); shipping ConUS is about 350 euro (just under $500). Some quotes are:
Complete bike 3373 Euro
Frame, fork, and DI2 internal wiring and battery 1429 Euros
Frame and fork (prepped for internal wiring) 990 Euro.
Largest rear disc is 180mm. Tapered front fork (203mm disc or rim brake).

If you do purchase please report as I have been looking at their track tandem for a while and would like to get some feedback before approaching them.

Vancouver has an indoor track and Victoria has an outdoor. I have done some track solo, but would like to ride with my wife, and is dry and warm indoors for winter.
Also, fixie is great training ride.
Wonder if they will allow a playpen for toddler in the infield?

Portland has outdoor as well. I think they have an annual day where geared tandems allowed to race(just not shift).
