First tandem ride WOW what fun

Maiden voyage - A bike ride in Wilton, NH

My wife and I picked up a mid 80's Santana
Went for the firsts ride together this evening, we had a blast, went a lot easier than we both thought. Starting and stopping we're no issue, and the funny looks from the neighbors was priceless.
Can't wait to get out again

I'm right there with you. I just picked up a tandem and the kids love it. I think they are easier to adapt than it would be with my wife. I'm still learning what to say when and that's kind of hard, but I'm so much stronger than the kids that the pedals just do what I want. The kids have taken it in stride and I've let them know that if I do anything that they didn't expect to let me know. They have, and I'm not getting much better at saying "coast." I've also started to coast before I hit a bump, and when I say "bump" it means we are going right foot forward, take your bottom off the saddle for a sec, then sit and pedal again. Its almost magical how we have started to work as a team, and is very cool. I don't think I'm ready to ride with my wife yet though, as she's been riding her own way a lot longer than the kids.

Bit of a rare Santana with a ladyback for stoker.
Been riding as a duo since 1975 . . .
At ages 81 and 79, we're still logging the miles TWOgether!
