Feedback on Velocity Aileron rim
Hello,
Working on a new tandem build and was wondering if anyone has feedback on the Velocity Aileron rims. If so, please provide some information around team weight, wheel parts and where you had it built.
For us, the team weight will be 340. Looking at building the wheels with the Aileron rim (32h), DT 240s hubs/centerlock disk/thru axle (15 mm front, 142 rear), and (possibly) DT Competition spokes. I have had good experiences with the Velocity Deep V rims on singles, but for the tandem I am looking to go "deep and wide".
Thanks.

PS. Great forum. Thanks to the regulars who share so much of their tandem knowledge.

We built a set of these rims for travel wheels. Our build is the 32 rims, white industries hubs thru axle both hubs, and DT aero comp spokes. Have zero miles on them as we still have snow on the ground. They built up very nice and I think they will be very strong. Wheelbuilder .com did the build. We also had a set of Zipp 404 built at the same time for event type wheels. These wheels are for our new Calfee builld that has thru axles front and rear and 11 speed free hubs .

Used Velocity Aerohead (32H front - 36H rear) rims with Chris king hubs for 40,000 miles.
Broke a few spokes and switched out to non-alloy nipples to solve that issue. Front wheel is original and rear rim has been replaced once.
With hat kind of mileage we cannot complain but did buy a new set of wheels (Topolinos) that we've just put on our Zona tandem and keeping the Velocity wheels as spares.
We are a rather light/old team (sub-250 lbs, 82/80 years old).
Just our input/experience.
Pedal on!
