Picking up the new steed tomorrow and looking to get a quality fit in the next 2 weeks. Anyone have a good guy?

What store is that?

MMACH 5 06-02-07 08:21 PM

She's purty.

Are you planning on bringing her out for the Urban Assault Race?

jsharr 06-02-07 08:54 PM

Congrats Zack. Give her to me or face banning! Or least can I have your old useless ugly Trek? And to second EJ, what store is that. Bluebonnet in Lewisville?

MMACH 5 06-02-07 09:14 PM

I'm going to guess Bicycles Plus, Snider Plaza.

Congrats on the promotion and the Trek is for sale btw ;)

I started a similar thread a while back, I think it was left in the old Southwest Regional forum, might want to search there. Several names came up at RBM Richardson & Frisco, as well as Plano. I've been putting off getting a fitting done on my Flyte, so let me know how you're session comes out who ever you end up going with.

Did you meet a guy named Adrian there?

Woh...nice bike SC!

Yeah the guys at Snider Plaza just went through a fitting certification course with Specialized when they were through town this spring. I bought my Langster there and got a bulletproof fitting from Craig.

Otherwise, I have used Alver at Plano Cycling. He did a great fitting on my Roubaix before I took it up to Colorado Springs for a camp. It rides like a different bike now. He may be out of pocket with a newborn though so check with them to schedule your fitting. Greg just fitted a buddy of mine there for a Roubaix and did a very thorough fitting. Might just talk to him as well.

Wow, I didn't even know there was a regional forum here until someone on the Clydes forum pointed me over here. :o Guess that's what I get for paying attention. To many forums, not enough time...

Check out my new bike post here:

Got the fit at Plano Cycling from Greg. Fit was my biggest concern going into my first road bike purchase. Being that I'm not your average cyclest I wanted to make sure that the correct fit came with the bike. Couldn't be more happy with the way I was treated and the final fit. I've got a set of rims on order that I'll pick up sometime next week, if I need any more adjustment we'll do it then. But I've been out for about 3 hours so far on the bike since Friday evening and it fits great, which says a lot for my 6'5" 270 pound arse. Alver was refered to me at the shop but as Rule stated he'll be out for a little while with a newborn.

Good luck, let us know who you end up going with and how it worked out.

Great bike!!! I rode a Scott CR1 Pro for 2 years.

Go talk to Tom Earnst at RBM Frisco. I prefer the Serotta fit system that he uses. He is certified and takes pride in doing his fittings. You have to make an appointment so call him ahead of time if you are going to have him do the fitting for you.

What size is your Scott?

MMACH 5 06-03-07 10:47 PM

I suppose we'll be seeing a new sig image soon?

Stray Cat 06-04-07 01:46 AM

Cuda: Searched but couldn't find anything. :(

EJ: Nope. Tech, sales, fitter?

Rule: Good to know. I'm going in tomorrow to get a shorter stem and will have to see if he's in and what he'd charge. Thanks!

Jason: That's another for Greg so I might have to give him a shout as well. Also, you're in my area so let me know if you ever wanna ride. Nice new steed btw! ;)

Kevin: What does Tom run? Scott is a 58.

Mach: Yep ;)

Tom Earnst's price for a full Serotta fitting is ~$180. It is the full fitting where he interviews you first to find out your riding, work, and sleep habits. He measures your flexibility, adjusts your cleats, and puts you on the Sertotta fit cycle to evaluate you. The evaluation goes on for an hour so where he makes various changes to the fit cycle to put you in the best position for power and comfort. After you are done on the fit cycle he writes down all of the measurments and transfers the settings over to your road bike.

Kevin, Straycat.

Tom also does a fit on your own bike, adjusting seat height, setback etc. for something like
$50 (price when they first opened).

He should be able to take the bike to the shop where he bought it and get this type of fit/adjustment for free.

lotek 06-04-07 02:34 PM

yah, thats true but Tom is a master at it. Best money I spent up there

If you thought that fit was great by Tom, just imagine what the full Serotta fit is like. If the OP is going to be racing or spending a lot of time in the saddle, I highly suggest biting the bullet and doing the full fit.
