Bike To The Beach 2007
Anyone doing the 2007 MS150 Bike to the Beach? If so, maybe we can meet in Beeville at the overnight campground. I always like putting faces to names.

Definately plan on doing it. The Frisco to Ft. Worth was great. My uncle has a ranch in Blanco, so I have a place close to SAT the night before.

I've done the Houston-Austin five times, but this will be my first year for the SA-CC route. Sounds like fun.

I'm in!
I've ridden the Hou-Austin 6 times and the SA-CC once in 04'. The SA-CC used to be the first weekend in October and in 04' we had a heat index of over 100 degrees and a 20-25 mph headwind, it was pretty tough. Glad to see they pushed it back further in the month. Looking forward to a fun ride.

Okay, we are about 3 weeks out for this one. I would like to try to meet some of you who are doing this in Beeville. Please post up if you are doing this ride and maybe we can all arrange to have a "meet-n-greet".

I'm in. I'll be hanging around the Ride Marshal tent in Beeville, I suspect.

I'm going. I'm staying the night at a relative's beach house though. I hope I finish the first leg early enough so I can get some fishing in, if my legs will support my weight still.

I know of you from Bike Mojo. I was on Team Methodist for the last 3 Bike To The Beach rides. They are a good group of people. I am on a different team this year, but I'll be looking for you.

No we've never met. I'll be posting up here were we can have a little meet n greet in Beeville. I'm on Team Rackspace. Everyone who does this ride is always really friendly and trust me you will not be alone.

I will be riding BtB for the 3rd year in a row. FWIW, I think y'all are thinking of 2005 when it was so hot and windy. I rode in 2005 and we had a huge headwind and the heat index was 105-110. In 2004 IIRC, there was a front that came through right at the start and they had light rain, cool weather, and a tail wind all day on the 1st day. I am trying to get in touch with Hillary from Mustang to see about riding with them since I trained with them in 2005 and the team I was going to ride with isn't riding this year.
As a 2nd FWIW, here is a blurb from the long range discussion of the weather for San Antonio:
“FORECAST SOLUTIONS SHOW SOUTHERLY WINDS PICKINGUP AGAIN WEDNESDAY OF NEXT WEEK...AHEAD OF ANOTHER MID TO HIGHLEVEL TROF OVER WESTERN U.S. THAT WILL APPROACH FROM THE WEST INTHE MID TO LATE PART OF NEXT WEEK. WITH INCREASING MOISTUREADVECTION AND WEAKENED HEIGHT FIELD ON WEDNESDAY...SHOWED WIDELYSCATTERED SHOWERS OVER THE EAST PART OF THE AREA WEDNESDAY. RAINCHANCES WITH THIS WEATHER PATTERN COULD INCREASE FROM WEDNESDAYNIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY OF NEXT WEEK AHEAD OF THE MID TO HIGH LEVELTROF AND ITS ASSOCIATED PACIFIC COLD FRONT. THIS WEATHER SYSTEMCOULD MOVE ACROSS THE AREA NEXT THURSDAY. MEDIUM RANGE TOOLS SHOWANOTHER POSSIBLE REINFORCEMENT OF COOL AIR THE FOLLOWING WEEKENDOF OCT 20 AND 21ST...AS MID TO HIGH LEVEL TROF AMPLIFIES SLIGHTLYOVER THE EASTERN U.S. AND HELPS PULL ANOTHER WAVE OF COOL AIROVER THE AREA FROM THE NORTH ON THE WEEKEND OF OCT. 20TH AND 21ST.” We can only pray that they are right...

TXAGS92,
You are correct with your years. 2005 was the incredibly hot one.

Its looking more and more like this one might be pretty warm too. Predictions right now range from 86-90 w/ a 5-10 mph SE wind on day one. Ughhh...I was really looking forward to highs in the low 80s and a tailwind. I will be riding with Mustang/Wood Group, but I will be wearing a Champions against MS jersey that says "I have MS...thats why I ride!" on the back.

I am on Team Rackspace. Look for us in the grey jerseys. In Beeville we will have a few tv's with satellite service for all the college football games, two kegs, and lots of BBQ. On the road, I'll be the big white guy riding a blue and silver Fuji. A lot of the Rackspace people will be riding together, so if you see some, look for me.

Just a couple more days....
I got an e-mail from the organizers about a longer day one route. The longer route is basically the original route with a loop tacked on to the end to increase the mileage to 101. You get some kind of century patch for completing it.
I'm thinking about doing it, but passing the turn to the finish line to add on a couple more miles is going to be hard. Is anyone going to take the longer route?

I am definately doing the longer route. Basically if you choose the longer route, instead of turning right on Charco rd in Beeville to go to the college, you stay on the acsess rd until you get to hwy 59. Then you will turn around and go back to Charco rd to the college. I can't wait to do this ride again.
