White Rock Trail conditions 6-21

I scouted out the White Rock Trail this evening in preperations for possible riding this weekend and it doesnt look good.

Lots of standing water, the pavement is flooded out between the Skillman bridge and Lawther. Mud and debris in most places, especially under the overpasses. USE EXTREME CAUTION ON THE ABRAMS UNDERPASS!!! VERY SLICK AND REMEMBER THERE IS NO GUARDRAIL AGAINST THE CREEK!!!

we really need to dry out:(

Unless it dries out completely over the next 48+ hrs (unlikely last time I checked the forecast), there is no way the trail will be in shape for us to ride Sunday morning. Thanks for the scouting job, we'll pick a different route.

redls1 - Most of the bad stuff is on the White Rock Creek trail. Usually the lake trail dries out a bit faster, but have never made it all the way down to the lake during bad creek trail conditions to know just how much. I probably wouldn't risk it driving all the way from Arlington all the same though if I were you.

Riding to work this morning, WRCT is not too bad.
There is water over the path north of NW Hwy (at the creek crossing), a little mud south of Royal (Harry S. Moss Park) and some standing water along the soccer fields (Northwood Park).
It looks like they may have scraped off the path in some areas.

Of course, this will all go to crap if we get any more rain before Sunday so be sure to have an alternate plan.;)

Of all the things in Dallas infrastructure that get ignored, this trail is one thing I'm very happy they make a point to maintain.

What really get me is the lack of guardrails running along the trail at the underpasses. It can be quite slick under there and if someone takes a spill, they could be in for a tumble. Most underpasses are ok but the Abrams and the Forest Ln ones are tricky with thier turns and lack of light.

Anyways, the loop around the lake itself seems to be in good repair even with the spillway reconstruction.
