Riding in East Texas
(Cross-post from Road forum)
Just returned from 2 weeks of vacation. First week was in Cozumel and didn't ride while there. 2nd part of trip was to in-laws in East TX. Wife got to see parents, kids got to see grandparents and cousins and vice-versa. As usual the wife and I did some riding on roads that are very different from our SE Fla norm. Took a few pics as we were leaving and thought a few of you might be interested. Didn't take any as we rode as I thought pics of me wouldn't be all that interesting and any pics of my wife while riding would reveal my present inability to hold her wheel (IOW she'd be way in front of me )
The first shot is of the in-law's house where we stay. The next 2 are of the county road they live off of. Pretty road but hard on the wheels if you're not careful. The 3rd shot is of the intersection with a Farm-Market Rd. 4 miles on that to Highway 21 and another 12 to the booming metropolis of Crockett, TX. All good quality roads and a nice shoulder on 21. The last shot is the same FM road but heading the opposite direction to Highway 7 (6miles).
Good hilly riding for us flat-landers (I know for many of you this barely qualifies as rolling but we are flat-landers to the extreme) and a definite change of pace we get to enjoy a few days a year.

Nice, I love riding East Texas. Did you like the piney woods?
I rode from Tyler to Gilmer, TX a couple of weeks ago. It was a great ride with the exception of a small detour on a chipseal hwy.
Good Times.

The piney woods are nice but what I like is the variety of hardwood trees which you don't see much of where we live.
The chipseal can definitely be "fun."

Neat pics. I'll be riding from Crockett to Tyler in September and I'm looking forward to seeing more of that part of Texas.
