Pineywoods Purgatory report

I rode the PWP this year for the first time...it was amazing. (Actually, truth be told, everything I ride this year is the first time because I'm just getting in to this.) If you like hills, this is the ride for you. No sooner did one finish and my heart rate would be back down in the normal range than I'd look up and there'd be another one. Perhaps someone with more experience can say whether this would be considered a 'hilly' ride. I know it was more hills than I've experienced at HHH, Waco, Georgetown, Waxahachie, Burnet.

But it was a well-supported event. A great rock band greeted the riders at the finish as well as free fajitas, beer and massages. LOTS of goodies in the goody bag. And for those lucky riders who stopped at the "Tour de Pine" rest stop - delicious BLT sandwiches on croissants!

There seemed to be a pretty large contingent from Houston...you North Texas guys should really try this one.

I'd love to hear other riders' reports.

I was there man and yes it was hilly! Did you notice some folks walking their bikes uphill? I was gonna do the 102 but by the time we got to that rest stop where the 102 cutoff, I decided to do 75 lol!! It was a great ride though and I had a good time. I'll be back next year. I posted some pics in the clyde forum. Did you enjoy the rain?

I saw some walking. I never did - but came oh-so-close. Mainly I saw people passing me by

That was my first official ride in the rain. Not too bad - kept things cool.

Here's that first big downhill:

Edit: Just checked out your pics...glad you got some of the bridge. They were tricky and the hill up the bad road afterwards almost did me in - mainly because I didn't see it coming.
