Crazy Kicker Ride Accident

Does anyone know the status of the young lady who took the (very) severe crash on the 35mi/100K route? It was on one of the "three amigo" hills on 337 about five or six miles into the ride? It looked pretty bad.

It was on the second big downhill. She was already down when I got there with quite a few people around. I was told by a witness that it looked like she tried to go from the shoulder of the road up on to the right hand lane where the new smooth road surface was, at about 20+ mph. And, of course, it was an uneven surface. They said the front wheel caught the bump as she moved left, the front wheel didn't go over, and she went over the bike. They said compound fracture of the arm, and broken leg.

It seemed to me like she was going into shock and was in extreme pain.

Received this email about the accident.

Dear riders and friends,

This is to update you on the status of our injured rider from Saturday, Oct 20, at the Kiwanis Crazy Kicker. She suffered severe injuries to her femur, shoulder and face. She was flown to JPS partly because of concern for possible brain injuries but at least her helmet saved her in that regard. Sources say her helmet was cracked in a big way. She will be off her feet for 3 months. She is a teacher of 1st grade students. Today she is having her jaw wired. Her comment to her accountant was that her front tire started wobbling and then she was flipped in the air. Additionally she says she will be back to riding as soon as possible! She is in good spirits.
If you could spread the word to any biking friends.
Donations will be accepted by writing checks to Virginia Frosch and mailing to Nick Campbell Financial Group, 5201 N O'Connor Blvd, Suite 500, Irving, Texas 75039.
Please keep her in your prayers.
I will be sending another email to a larger group in a few days. Forgive me if your address is included again.

Lyn Butcher, Ride Director
Kiwanis Crazy Kicker
